John Stanley and English music of the mid-18th century (to the 300th anniversary)
Abstract
The paper explores the works by John Stanley — a composer and organist, a major representative of English music in the 18th century. J. Stanley’s works are analyzed alongside the biographical observations. Music development traits in England at the time, such as transformation from baroque to classical style, are being discussed.
