Classical and scenic fencing. History and prospects of combinations of these techniques in training of actors
Abstract
The question of combination of classical (applied) and production (scenic) fencing in the course of training of actors was discussed in special literature only once: it was addressed in the book of 1910 by Alexander Ljugar. Despite many advantages of the technique, it so far has not been developed and implemented. Meanwhile, the subject “Scenic fencing”, is still of current interest for theatrical high school, and, obviously, needs serious analysis which would combine experience of the masters of the past and innovative ideas. The article proves necessity of development of a subject “Scenic fencing”, identifies basic directions and objectives of the development, and ways of their achievement.
