The article presents materials as yet unpublished and hitherto unknown to the scientific public associated with the transcription of manuscripts of the renowned art critic Alexander Benois. Marginal comments on the sidelines of exhibition catalogues, made by his hand, give the opportunity to reveal an immediate impression of the criticism on the artistic polyphony of the age of the 19th and 20th centuries. The author of the article devotes attention to the transcription of inscriptions and the marginalia of the great critic. The method used by the author in his work allows us to identify its documentary value and clearly and systematically build a life around the artistic association of the ‘Blue Rose’.
