The phenomenon of “structural hearing” in the musical sociological concept of Theodor W. Adorno
Abstract
The article attempts to reveal the phenomenon of so-called “structural hearing”, which can be understood as an interlink between music-sociological and music-theoretical aspects in the system of views by Theodor W. Adorno. The “structural hearing” is based on rather original and special, still arbitrary associations; it includes an emotional side of musical content and relies on all features and sides of the language of European music. An important sign of “structural hearing” is a procedural, dynamic perception of music by the German philosopher. His works are of current interest as before and are considered as exemplary ones for the musical analysis by the “new” musical hermeneutics in the Western Europe.
Keywords:
