The idea of sign and the principle of exchange in the field of photography and in the system of language
Abstract
The construction of signifier and signified, the basis of the theory of the sign, allows to considers еру mechanism of exchange as one of the most important language elements. The principle of exchange reveals itself as a socio-economic mechanism — this draws the attention of many researchers of the XX century. The system of exchange is one of the essential foundations of European culture: this mechanism is reproduced in many institutions — in language, and in the social life. Photography draws the attention to the fact that a sequential transition can be broken: a snapshot stops the system that supports the movement of signifier and signified. The Exchange mechanism given in the language system is broken in photography — the reverse exchange between photography and reality is impossible. This article attempts a comparison of language and photographic images, which are considered in terms of the concept of sign. The paper analyzes the peculiarities of the principles of sharing that operate in photography and language.
