Grand Jeu and (Grand) Plein Jeu: a new interpretation from the beginning of XIXth century?
Abstract
The author of this paper has found unknown description of Grand Jeu and Plein Jeu by a famous French and Belgian theorist Jérôme-Joseph de Momigny in Encyclopédie Methodique (Encyclopédie Methodique. Musique, Publiée Par MM. Framery, Ginguené et De Momigny. Tome Second. Paris: Agasse, 1818). According to de Momigny’s description the Plein Jeu registration consists of «les tierces» and «les nasards».
